Diego A. Flores D. is an undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa, pursuing a degree in Economics and Political Science. He is a Scholarship Recipient of UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) to further develop his research skills within the Observatory on Violence, Criminalization and Democracy OVCD, under the supervision of Marie-Christine Doran.
Diego's research interests lie at the intersection of climate change, human rights, and social justice. Specifically, he is interested in the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations, including indigenous communities, as well as gender-based violence and feminicides. He is also interested in developmental economics and politics, examining the role of policies and institutions in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
In his coursework, Diego has demonstrated a strong proficiency in research methodology, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods, including econometric analysis, to explore issues related to climate change, poverty, and violence. Currently, he is familiarizing himself with new Research tolos and methodologies with the OVCD team.
As a Scholarship Recipient of UROP, Diego is committed to furthering his research skills with the OVCD team and contributing to the academic community through his work.
